…ellipsis…

ellipsis

…hope…

both precedes and follows the ellipsis.

Three dark specks conjoined

which, alone, work only

to end the conversation.

Alone, dark and soundless,

like faces of tiny wells

which somehow found each other

on the landscape

then chose to stand together,

saying:

“by this omission, we mean more,”

and

“there is a continuity we maybe cannot see,

in this moment, just now”

and

“we are here, breathlessly aligned,

and in it for the long game.”

  1. Dear Vincent – thank you for this beautiful poem. Just what we needed. BTW, my grandson, Owen McMahon is now a freshman at Boulder…how cool is that! You would enjoy getting to know him, I’m sure.

Best regards to you and Claire,

    Jane DeYoung (your cousin!)
